Your First Visit
Most new patients come in looking for the same thing: immediate relief. However, relief without repair is often short-lived, and can create a vicious cycle of band-aid solutions for pain. Once we’ve confirmed it’s safe for us to treat you, we’ll start your evaluation, make a few preliminary adjustments, and create a plan to help achieve your long-term goals.
Dr. Jeremy Johnson founded Ozark Valley Chiropractic based on a simple principle: offering an alternative to the modern-day medical system.
Like many of his patients, Dr. Johnson was in and out of doctors’ offices for several years before his introduction to chiropractic care. At age 15, he injured his back playing sports and underwent high-risk surgery to have two rods fused to his spine. Thirteen years later, still reliant on pain medication and suffering from ongoing complications, he ruptured the discs surrounding his original injury and was told he’d need surgery, again.
Determined to regain control of his body and his life, he had all of the hardware removed from his spine and, with some skepticism, began seeing a chiropractor… and the rest is history.
Dr. Johnson attended the University of Arkansas for his undergraduate studies in Fayetteville, AR. He then completed Parker University’s doctor of chiropractic degree program in Dallas, TX, where he became a nationally ranked triathlete and a member of the golf team, proving that there’s life after pain. Thanks to his recovery, he enjoys staying active in his free time, and is now an avid cyclist.
The Mind-Body Connection
People typically believe their pain is in a specific part of their body. The reality is, pain is a symptom that stems from your nervous system, which connects your brain to the rest of your body through your spinal cord and nerves.
Many of our patients come to us at a critical moment when their pain reaches a point they can no longer live with, and what may have started as a minor injury has gradually worsened into a chronic issue. When pain is not addressed over a long period of time, your nerves start to function differently, and need to be reprogrammed for a full recovery.
At Ozark Valley Chiropractic, we can help you re-calibrate these damaged neurological pathways and unlearn the compensation tactics that your brain taught your body, such as knee pain that causes an uneven gait, or favoring one side of your mouth while chewing due to jaw pain.
